PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT

The department holds the philosophy that a qualified dental hygienist possesses the ethical, moral, educational, and clinical skills and knowledge to provide optimum dental hygiene care to diverse populations.

MISSION STATEMENT AND GUIDING PRINCIPLES

Its mission is to educate dental hygiene graduates who demonstrate competent clinical skills, effective communication and leadership skills, respect for the dental team, and professional ethical standards in providing complete dental hygiene care while fostering the development and enhancement of the life long learning with faculty that are current in academic and clinical knowledge. The guiding principles of the dental hygiene program include:

  • Offering a variety of teaching and learning methodologies to serve the needs of its diverse student body; and
  • Educating and promoting oral health with emphasis on the prevention of oral diseases within the community service area.
